iceland airwaves ‘11 day three @ reykjavik iceland (10/14/11)
by day three, the festival was in full swing and navigating the reykjavik city centre was a piece of cake. started the day with some american flavor via brooklyn’s caged animals which was a bunch of dorky fun and came back to our hostel for a performance by elephant stone. after their set, it left me wondering why bands don’t use sitars more in their music. psychedelic brilliance.
later in the night i parked at NASA and finally got to see young magic live. the drums were outta control! loved it. been following their material for a while so i was happy to see that their material translated live extremely well. niki and the dove was after young magic and to be honest, it was a lackluster performance and didn’t live up to the hype. didn’t help that photographers were all up in her face and blocked the entire venue’s view, but what can you do?
caught a bit of tune-yards set to end the night, which is an incredible live show, just not really my cup of tea.
