the twelves / grum @ v lounge in santa monica (5/8/10)
this show was easily one of the BEST dj sets i’ve seen all year. despite the shitty santa monica douchebag crowd, the twelves played a set that commanded every part of your body to be danced. by the end of the show, we were all dripping in sweat. it was simply euphoric.
what i love about the twelves is their ability to take pop music, add a new back bone and transform it into an electro, shake your booty dance party. during the set they played a remix of britney spears’ gimme more and everyone went wild. to britney spears (!).
i haven’t been to a show since girl talk @ treasure island last year that truly brought danceful joy to my heart. this one was definitely comparable—in energy, in levity, in utter fun. goddamn i love those brazilians!
